Customer Information
St Andrews Market is a weekly community market operating in the public reserve opposite the St Andrews Hotel. The nominal stall fees go towards community projects and the beautifying of the market surrounds.
Now in its 31st year, the St Andrews market is constantly recognised as one of Victoria's premier markets. It is unique with its blend of individual crafts, fresh produce, plants, second hand, world goods and food stalls. It is visually stunning with its natural bush setting and is alive with colour and sound.
Each Saturday morning a mix of permanent and casual stall holders set up and open for business by 8am. The market runs until 2 pm and many attractions continue on past this time. The day can then be rounded off with a visit to the hotel for a relaxed drink.
LOCATION
St Andrews Market is located on the Kangaroo Ground - Kinglake Road in St Andrews, Victoria approximately 35 kilometres from Melbourne (see "Find us" page).
St Andrews Market is an outdoor market. There are several stalls located inside the hall, however, so please remember to visit these during your time at the market.
OPERATING HOURS
The market runs from 8:00AM until 2:00PM each Saturday Morning except where Christmas Day falls on a Saturday.
PARKING
Parking is available on the roadside verges along the feeder roads to the market. Please observe the "no parking opposite double lines" rule. Police in attendance will book offenders. Please be respectful of driveway access for local residents and businesses.
Limited space is also available for market customers who are also hotel patrons. This is located behind the hotel. Other parking is available adjacent to the St Andrews Primary School. This is 100 metres North of the lower end of the market.
Parking is more readily available in the non-peak market times before 10 a.m.
ST ANDREWS and PLASTIC BAGS
St Andrews is a sustainable market. Stallholders are endeavouring to reduce the use of packaging. Customers can assist us by bringing their own "green" bags. The Market also sells reusable hemp shopping bags with the Market logo printed on them as a fundraiser for the local Primary School.
TOILETS
There are toilets on the market grounds and also at the hotel opposite. Wheelchair access to the toilets can be difficult.
DISABLED
Wheelchair and disabled access is possible to all stalls but please be aware of the uneven and irregular path surfaces. The market is also quite steep in places, so bear this in mind when assisting disabled patrons. The market committee can assist you further so please feel free to contact us.
EFTPOS, CREDIT CARD and AUTO TELLER MACHINES
Some stall holders have EFTPOS and Credit Card facilities, but customers are advised to attend the market with a suitable amount of cash to meet their requirements. Limited EFTPOS is available at the local shop (100 metres North of the Market) and at the hotel opposite. Some transaction fees may apply.
PETS
Dogs are not permitted at the market as they contravene Nullimbuk Shire food by-laws.
FOOD and DRINK
A unique range of fresh food is available at the market. This includes felafel, chai tea, Asian take away, gourmet sausages, coffee and much more. There are foods to satisfy all tastes and each food vendor has to meet Council and Health Department requirements before being included in the market. All food is prepared to the highest standards.
RECREATION AREAS
Quiet areas are located in the police paddocks at the top end of the market and around the hall. Seating is available in some areas.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
St Andrews is an all-weather market. Customers should be aware, however, that the market can consist of fewer stalls on wet weather days. Attendance with a raincoat or umbrella will still result in a fun and productive day.
LOST PROPERTY
Any lost property will find its way to a committee member who can be contacted after market by phone on (03) 9756 7515, or by email (see "Contact" page).
During the market please see Matti at the Felafel stall under the hall verandah.
GENERAL ASSISTANCE
On Market day please see any Committee mamber. They can be found by enquiring at any stall.
